Is it ok for poor to shoplift?

Friday, December 25th, 2009
A priest said during a preach that it’s ok for poor people to shoplift as the less of greater evils. It has attracted a lot of attention.

I would salute the priest for his understanding and compassionate heart. As Christians we’re called to stand on the side of poor people. And that desperate situations can drive people to do things they normally would not do, we all can understand.

However I do not agree with the priest’s message. I believe God both understands and, if repented, are quick to forgive shoplifting. But it is still wrong.

I might be naive. However I believe in the life of the Spirit and integrity. I believe that if we chose to live in the Spirit and live by integrity, God will always provide a way for us to stand tall. It will not be easy. We will face many difficult choices. But there will always be a way of righteousness and integrity.

Moreover Jesus gave clear promises to those that chose to give all for the Kingdom of God. He promised that God will provide for those that seek Him first. Those that set their sole Hope to the King, will not perish.

The priest did good by showing compassion. And we should also not be quick to judge people that in their desperate situations find it necessary to shoplift. However as priests we should always point to the Hope of Jesus and His promises to us.

I know He provides, because I experience it every day.

Christmas puzzles

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
It’s Christmas time for real. Here are some stuff to check out.

You could try a game of Bible Millionaire. Why not try to be a missionary. Or if you’re the intellectual kind, you could solve crosswords.

To lift your spirit you could read this joke about two mischievous boys who were always getting into trouble. And these Funny Announcements Taken from Church Newsletters are pretty hillarious as well.

Finally “O Holy Night” by David Phelps with Gaither Vocal Band:

Merry Christmas!

Revival fire among the youth in IHOP

Monday, November 30th, 2009
Word is that revival has broken out among the youth in IHOP, Kansas City. Hopefully it will spread.

International House of Prayer, or IHOP, is led by Mike Bickle. And it is amoung the youth students where healings, deliverance and joy where spreading. It began with a class lasting for 15 hours.

There is a conference called One Thing at IHOP December 28-31. Perhaps a good place to go for thirsty people?

Mike Bickle and Lou Engle has written a letter regarding this outpouring of the spirit.

- In 2009 we should be more enlightened than to believe in hell

Saturday, November 28th, 2009
- Happily fewer and fewer people believe in Heaven and hell. Even among believing people.

These statements I saw in a forum just now. And I think it is funny, sad or disappointing how mislead people are by “modern” thinking.

It seems that human kind has never been more morally corrupted than these last decades. They have never been further away from the standard God sets.

But still they call it enlightenment and refer to the year as proof of how good handle human kind has gotten of what is true and right.

Corrupted thinking

Never before has sexual corruption, addictions, lust, attention to superficial attributes, self glorification, destruction of the family, materialism, imbalance in the roles of the sexes and plain sin, been more common conduct and defined as proper as now.

In the “enlighten” thinking, that has grown out of a society filled with the actions described above, hell is just an old fairy-tale that was constructed to scare people.

The very world we live in are the biggest testimony ever, that hell is not only possible, but also probable. Look at all the evil everywhere. But people’s eyes are so blinded that what used to be right has become wrong. And what used to be wrong has been deemed right. And it’s called progress.

Can we forgive?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009
What does it take for the body of Christ to forgive preachers that have fallen in sin? When can they come back?

These days Todd Bentley, from the Lakeland outpouring, are becoming more and more active in service. The revival in Florida ended more than a year ago, when issues of divorce and remarriage emerged.

After some time being completely of the radar, he reappeared under the wings of Rick Joyner in Morning Star ministries. For many months Todd has undergone a restoration process.

However now he’s relaunching his service again, step by step. First with some casts on the web. And in February he’ll hold a real life healing school at the local church. Later he’ll probably star evangelizing in different locations.

Is it enough?

Will the body of Christ accept his reappearance as a preacher? Can we forgive what has happen?

I think those that was skeptical from the outset, still will be skeptical, no matter what Todd does. So from that perspective it doesn’t matter.

We should forgive, because that is what Christians should do. Jesus is all about second chances.

However this is also a matter of trust. Trust is built over time. I think it’s wise that they do this step by step. It will give room for trust to be built.

As for me, I don’t have anything to forgive him for. However I still forgive, and I wish him all the best getting back. I’ll pray that he’ll get it right this time.

Integrity: Would you have fired yourself?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009
I’ve just read a story from governmental sector, that is pretty unique.

A woman was working as a cultural consultant. However for a few months she had to take over the job of her boss, the head of culture issues.

During this time she had to cut down on operating costs. In her suggestion to the political organs, she had cut out her own position as cultural consultant. As a result she would be out of a job when her boss returns. That’s a pretty bold suggestion to make.

The administrative manager wasn’t pleased with the suggestion, stating that her position was valuable. So we’ll see if she’ll keep her job or not.

An act of integrity or lack of self esteem? What would you have done?

The story is available in Norwegian only here.
