Your character is there for the bad times

Sunday, November 8th, 2009
Everybody can manage to do the right thing when life is in a positive flow. However during bad times it’s tempting to take the easier path and leave good morale to someone else.

It’s during those times you need a good character. A good character produce good fruit also during trial and uphill battle.

When you feel really down, and yet another bad things happen. Then you need good character to make the right and though decission. You need a heart that force you to not lower your standards. A heart that do not fail, even you just want to not care, and look the other way.

The foundation for good character comes from investing in seeds of Kingdom in your heart. It can be done anytime. However it’s most easy during good times, when you have greater freedom. Good seeds are spending time close to the Kingdom and let it influence you. Good seeds are feeding your mind with good thoughts and actions.

Those seeds will produce more frequent Kingdom actions, leading to good habits. Eventially those Kingdom habits will become a part of your character, and produce good fruit, not matter your circumstances.

I learned this by experience today. Invest in your character. Plant good seeds today.

That’s how God is like

How is God like? Why doesn’t He reveal more of himself to us? I believe He does.

Do you remember the smile a stranger gave you?

Do you remember how a happy day feels like?

Have you felt a passion for something bigger than your self bubble inside?

Do you remember someone giving you a big hug and say “Hope you’re ok”?

Have you felt the feeling of accomplishment after finishing an exam?

Do you remember feeling compassion for someone and wanting to help?

God is not distant. The Bible doesn’t state that God is filled with love. It doesn’t say that he has love. The Bible tells us that God IS love. So our God is love and omnipresent.

That means that every time you, or someone else, smile, God is there in that smile. It means that every act and feeling of compassion, love, peace, hope, patience, encouragement and joy is manifestation of the living God on earth. Because God IS love, and all these things come out of love.

This is why the Bible tells us not to fear, but to seek the peace in Him. Because when we fear, we manifest something else than God. In God there is no fear, only hope and peace. And when we practise it, we take a seed of heaven and plant it on earth.

God is not far away. In fact, he’s just a smile away.
